Warm up games...

Beany game-make different shapes with your body

Broad bean-star shape
Baked bean-sit down grab knees-tucked
Beans on toast-lie on the floor star shape
Runner bean-run around
Jumping bean-jump
Chillibeans-pretend to be cold and shiver
Jelly bean-wobble round like jelly

Human Bop-It!

Great game to get the children thinking about the rhythm and beat of the music. It's based on the 'bop it' game.
Call out the actions to which the children respond in the following ways:
  • Kick it - children kick in front of them (ensure they're all in a space first!)
  • Twist it - twist their bodies half way around then back, feet remaining in same place on the floor.
  • Spin it - children turn around
  • Pull it - imagine they are pulling two levers down from above their heads.
  • Bop it - jump in the air.

Warm up songs

Great warm up song I found to use!

Week 8

This weeks session went really well. The children practiced in their age groups. We even had a go at going outside onto the bars this week with Suzie's excellent support at bar! Thanks Kelly & Adele for your continued support too. You are all amazing coaches! The Year 6,7 and 8 buddies were fantastic this week at guiding, supporting as well as practicing their own routines!

WEEK 5

This week we had 33 amazing Gymnasts from NE to Year 5 practicing their beam routines, vault, headstands, backward& forward rolls, skipping and hullahoops. I can see some huge progress in the student’s confidence and skills which is rewarding to see. Thank-you to our amazing coaches Kelly, Adele, Courtenay and Suzie who are doing an amazing job helping and guiding the students. A big thank-you to the Year 6 boy's and parents who helped to set up and put away the equipment!

We have had one of our old trampolines re-padded around the springs and will be ready to use next week which is exciting! We have also had one of the huge, heavy mats (that was too heavy to move to use), cut into smaller mats. It will be great to have extra mats to start learning our floor routines.
